How I Made It: Sunshower Wall Art tutorial

Hi. My name is Corinna and I'm a bohemian decor addict. While the base of all my decorating is vintage and second hand. I also really love good doses of whimsy in my decor.

Have you ever heard of or seen a sunshower?

I love the weather and have been obsessed since a young age. So it was fitting that I come across an old mirror in a sun shape at the thrift store. I actually really love the original colors and design to the piece, but the finish was worn pretty badly and some damage had completely removed it in some places.

So I decided to spray paint it. Conveniently, I remembered I ought to take a "before" picture after I had already blocked off all the glass. But I'm sure you get the point without a reflection of how crappy the exterior of my house is looking right now.

With 2 different sized teardrop crystals, some cheap white thread and a hot glue gun, I added my artistic interpretation of what the sun shower would look like in wall art form.

I'm pretty enthralled with how it came out and can't wait to put it in the room that's currently a wreck with craft supplies but will be clean and full of fun things for my son soon. In between the last few projects in the bathroom, starting the dining room for ORC and generally just maintaining the house on my days off from work, I'm also working away at our bedrooms.

They've needed help for a while.

I've had a few things picked out for my son's "new" room and this will be one of the pieces to make it's way in there.

I had so much fun tapping into my creative side. It's not something I get to do a whole lot working in the medical field. If you'd like to recreate this look, here's a list of similar materials I used:

Sun Mirror

Teardrop Beads

White Thread

Hot Glue Gun

Glue Sticks

  8. This is inspired. I feel like if I had seen this mirror, I might have joked about it looking like a bunch of peppers (was it supposed to look like peppers? Like "hot"? I can't tell). You saw soooo far beyond that! Love how it turned out!
